TUCATE
The Tulare County Association of Teachers of English
TUCATE is an affiliate of the California Association of Teacher of English.
CATE is the subject matter organization that represents the
English/Language Arts teachers of California. CATE was founded in 1960
and has continuously served as the professional organization for English
teachers ever since. CATE is divided into 9 regional affiliates.
Each year CATE and its 9 affiliates throughout the state sponsor many
in-service projects, conferences, and an annual convention with the sole
purpose of providing support for classroom teachers. CATE publishes an
award-winning periodical, Califonia English, which features helpful articles
and resources for English teachers.
People who serve on the CATE Board of Directors and on the boards of
local affiliates and on all the various committees volunteer their time and
talent to the profession. It is this dedication to serving the English teaching
profession which has made CATE a vital element in the educational
structure of the great state of California. When one joins CATE through a
local affiliate, one is welcomed into a family of dedicated educators working
towards a common goal, to improve the education of our students. That's
what it's all about.
